Scandinavian Child
It's no secret - I'm a huge fan of Scandinavian Child. My three year old still uses their Svan high chair on a daily basis (we've turned it into a "chair") while my three month old has been sleeping soundly in their Cariboo Earth Bassinet. The look and feel of their designs fit right into my aesthetic: Clean, comfortable, earth-friendly and a touch modern. Crush #2: In a few months, my daughter will start to eat solids& and Im all over this Babycook food maker. I admit that with my son, I never got into making homemade baby food. Honestly, I just didn't feel like dealing with it -it seemed easier to stock up on jars of peas and carrots at the store. But now considering the economy, not to mention the earth, I want to start making my own baby food in order to save money while cutting down on my carbon footprint by using less jars and packaging. Here's what I like about this cooker: It works as a steamer, blender, warmer and defroster all in one. Not only is it convenient and compact, it'll look cute on the counter! And, if I can cut down on things I need to wash, I'm happy. Did I mention that it's BPA safety-tested, too? Bring on the steamed broccoli!

Thanks to Babycook, I'm a Baby Gourmet Chef
"Tonight, my pretties, we'll be serving up a cous-cous and cauliflower coulis, with a hint of yogurt curry, followed by an apricot pear rice pudding" Sound far fetched for an eight month old? Not when you have the Beaba Babycook! This wonderful device cooks and purees baby's food for you, so quickly and easily it's almost unbelievable. Lets get one thing straight. I am a capitol "L" Lazy chef. Anything over five minutes in the microwave and two pots to wash and I am thinking maybe I should order out. Or save it for a special occasion. Like a party. Which I would probably want to have catered come to think of it... I'm more of a cupcake decorator than a dinner maker. I frost. I sprinkle. But I don't like to toil in the kitchen. However I do like fresh and healthy food. I am making an effort to serve mostly organic items and plenty of fresh veggies to my family. We're even growing some of our own. I just hate that part about preparing them. Almost as much as I hate washing up afterwards. Dear sweet doomed veggies...They do look so pretty in the fridge before they spoil though! I guess you can see why the idea of preparing baby food never really progressed past the "idea" phase for me, in the past. My poor kids were stuck eating flavorless jarred foods with the "treat" of organic home delivery every once in a while. You haven't lived till you've had organic sweet potatoes (with a price tag that rivals that of the finest beluga caviar)delivered to your doorstep on dry ice. I won't be shelling out anymore. Because the Beaba Babycook is easy enough even for lazy old me. The hardest part of using it is peeling the organic potato. Seriously, this is what takes the longest and makes the most mess.

Fuss Free Baby Food
Since my own attempts to make baby food had been so time-consuming, I jumped at the chance to test the Beaba Babycook. This baby food maker is extremely popular in Europe and the new BPA-free version is now available for sale in the US. The Babycook steams and then purees veggies, fruits and meats. The Babycook is idiot-proof since the steamer automatically turns off when the food is done. You can control the consistency of the food and make either a smooth puree or something with more texture. Clean-up is super fast since there are no pots or dishes to wash. Just put the Babycook in the dishwasher's top rack.

Now You're Cooking Mama
Call me ecologically bankrupt, but I'm willing to pay for convenience. Disposable dipes and wipes are a mainstay around here, as was jarred baby food--until I tried the Beaba Babycook. This little gadget steams and blends fruits and veggies quickly and efficiently, even for a kitchen novice like me. Not only does the sleek modern design look great on my counter, the Babycook is made of safe Polysulfone--meaning there's no leaching of any chemicals into my carefully-prepared home made baby food. It comes with a recipe booklet with instructions for making such delicacies as pear compote and tomato coulis, but I just tossed some diced fresh veggies into the basket, and steamed and pureed them in about 15 minutes. Clean up was a breeze, and now I don't have to feel guilty about throwing empty plastic food containers in the garbage.
